Hotspots at a huge mountain blaze are decreasing, fire chiefs have said.

A fire crew and a pair of offroad vehicles remain at the scene of a large wildfire in Llangollen this morning.

Teams from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have been battling the flames, which started in Llantysilio, since July 19.

For the past few days firefighters have been extinguishing hotspots as well as maintaining fire breaks and trenches, put in place to stop the blaze spreading any further.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has told the Leader this morning that those hotspots have decreased overnight and crews will remain to monitor them today.

A spokesman told the Leader the Horseshoe Pass remains partially closed but this may be reviewed later in the day.
