A VILLAGE post office has received a first class update by its new owners.

The shop and post office, formerly known as Y Post, in Cynwyd, near Corwen was bought by Cynwyd Enterprises last summer and has since undergone significant refurbishment.

The new owners have partnered with Dutch retailer Spar, which will become the shop and post office's new name. The move has enabled the extension of its opening hours into the week, rather than only weekends under its previous owners, and has widened the range of goods for sale.

Luana Patton of Cynwyd Enyerprises said: "Cynwyd Enterprises are pleased to have been involved in this development and hope to secure the future of the shop and post office facilities for the village and surrounding areas."

County Councillor for Cynwyd, Mabon ap Gwynfor, who chaired a community campaign to save the shop and post office said: “The shop and post office play a vital role in our community. It serves as a lifeline for many, ensuring that people can buy their daily essentials on their doorstep. It’s great that the shop and the post office are now assured and we can look forward with confidence.”

The shop is open seven days a week from 7am until 7pm, and are hoping to extend the hours later into the evening soon. Full Post office services, including most banking facilities, are available in store, as well as the complete range of convenience store products.
