THE weather has been a blessing for a westerly Denbighshire village, whose annual summer show was a joy to behold for the community and visiting parties.

The Bryneglwys Show played host to a mosaic of country pursuits, sports, gardening and arts and crafts community events that coloured the fields of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley in what has been a regular feature on the village's calendar since the 1960s.

In recent years, the event has welcomed over 1000 spectators and tryers hoping to socialise, relax with old friends, enter competitions and make business contacts.

Events on the day included competitions in horse jumping, vintage tractors, stationary model aircrafts, horse and carriage rides, a dog show, homemade fancy dress, classic cars and youth sports competitions.

There was also a chainsaw woodcarving display in which a magnificent owl was created and auctioned on the day, with proceeds donated to the Air Ambulance.

Birds of prey were also casting their beady eyes across the festival.

Gardeners took to the task of presenting their finest vegetable, fruit and other produce. Prizes were on offer for those with the best tomatoes, broad beans, courgettes, strawberries and raspberries, and the longest runner bean.

In the artists corner, thmpetitions for the best handmade greeting card, knitted garment, ‘something new from something old’, and cushions.
