DENBIGH has shone through for its annual summer show as thousands turned out despite the morning rain.

Around 2,000 people attended the Annual Denbigh Show on Saturday, August 25 on Ystrad Road in Denbigh.

Following some light drizzle in the morning, the afternoon turned out to be warm and sunny and the crowd was treated to a feast of entertainment and the spectacle of the competitions.

Notable appearances included stunt riders the Horsemen of the Knight, whose jousting performance stunned the crowd, while Andrew Van Buren, the magician of international acclaim, delighted old and young with his illusion spectacular.

The Strictly Fun Dog Show was very popular with the judging panel, who decided the winners across the show’s various categories.

In the Competitions Marquee, the entries were as high a standard as ever, which is remarkable considering the climactic extremes that gardeners have faced through winter, spring and summer this year.

Notable winners were Bryn Lloyd Roberts of Trefnant who took eight trophies, David Lloyd of Rhewl who won four trophies in the Vegetable section, and Betty Parker of St Asaph who won three for her Floral Art exhibits. The winner of the school garden competition, which was judged before the end of term, was announced with Ysgol Trefnant taking the title for the first time. Their trophy will be presented when the school reopens for the new academic year.

A spokesperson for the Denbigh Show said: “The Committee would like to thank all those who sponsored and helped with the show this year and are looking forward to planning next year’s show which will be on the 24 August 2019.”
