AN ARTIST and his students are exhibiting their watercolour paintings in Prestatyn as part of Wales' biggest Open studio event.

The public display - Conwy/Clwyd Watercolours - is part of a group exhibition by Andrew Jenkin and is on the Helfa Gelf Art Trail.

Mr Jenkin, who is self taught, moved to Rhyl from Yorkshire eight years ago.

The former head tutor at North Light Gallery Art School in Huddersfield paints watercolour landscapes of Wales and Northern England and teaches watercolour classes in Conwy and Denbighshire.

The illustrator, who in 2012 was shortlisted for 'Artist of the Year' by Artist and Illustrators magazine, said: "The paintings, showing North Wales landscapes, flowers, portraits and abstract, have all been done by my students.

"The show is a culmination of several years' hard work by myself and my students, or of whom are at different stages in their hobby - from absolute beginners to seasoned painters who regularly exhibit at other shows in North Wales."

Any sales from the exhibition will support RNLI stations at Rhyl and Llandudno. The exhibition is open on Saturday, September 8, 15 and 22 at Kings Hall, Kings Avenue, Prestatyn.
