THE Welsh Highland Railway celebrated the 21st anniversary of the rebirth of the railway with a Super-Power weekend.
Starting last Friday and lasting until Sunday, it ran extra services between Caernarfon and Porthmadog using double Fairlie locomtoives in addition to its normal Beyer Garret haulage.

One special visitor for the weekend was Lyn, the new locomotive from the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in Devon, employed on a vintage shuttle in conjunction with the single Fairlie Taliesin.
The shuttle service, using vintage carriages ran from Caernarfon and at various times to Porthmadoc, Beddgelert, Rhyd Ddu or Waunfawr. In addition to Lyn and Taliesin, the shuttle used the double Fairlies Merddin Emrys and David Lloyd George.
The railway’s base at Dinas station, was a focus of other activities including: live steam 7.25 inch gauge rides, model railway demonstrations and traditional footplate.
