THE line-up for a festival dedicated to a beloved fruit originating in Denbigh has been revealed

The Denbigh Plum Feast, a celebration of the Denbigh Plum, Wales' only native plum, will take place on Saturday, October 6 from 10am.

Organised by the Denbigh Plum Group, the festival marks a crucial year as the group has applied for European protected status for the fruit before Brexit.

A feast of food and drink stalls providing Welsh-grown produce will include pork pies, sausage rolls, jams, chutneys, vinegar, jellies, cakes, puddings and even Denbigh Plum marshmallows.

There will be live cookery demonstrations from Ellis Barrie of the Marram Grass restaurant on Anglesey who will also be appearing the the BBC's Great British Menu as well as Hazel Thomas from Lampeter who was the first female chef employed by Anton Moisimann at the Dorchester in London.

Junior chefs from the Vale of Clwyd will also be showing off their culinary expertise with a special competition organised by Grwp Cynefin and Urdd.

A craft person will be offering free mosaic activities during the day, alongside numerous other craft stalls at the event.

Meanwhile, music will be provided by the newly formed Denbigh Folk at the Plum throughout the day and during an evening event hosted by the Guildhall Tavern.

Nia Williams, secretary for the Plum Group, said: "There is more and more interest and more and more demand for our very special plums.

"We believe everybody will enjoy the feast and all it has to offer.”

Entry and across-town parking is free on behalf of Denbigh town council.
