WHILE the hurtling and dirt-kicking turbo-charged cars will be attracting the attention at the UK’s largest motor rally held in north Wales this week, a St Asaph-based support team will be working quietly behind the scenes to keep the event on track.

The Wales Rally GB is a marked event in the Welsh calendar as it is the UK’s round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), the world leading rally championship.

This year's rally starts at Tir Prince Raceway, Abergele, and will get underway on Thursday, October 4 when the world's best rally drivers will begin their journey to take on more than 200 miles of north and mid-Wales terrain, before a ceremonial finish and prize giving on Sunday October 7 in Llandudno.

Understandably, staging such an event requires thorough organisation, and a team of technicians from B2 Business Systems, a technology and resource service based at New Vision Business Park, St Asaph, as well as Deeside Industrial Park, Deeside, will be on-call to respond to the twists and turns that the contest will inevitably bring.

B2 was founded 27 years ago, in 1991 – the same year that the World Wide Web was launched – and today employs 50 people.

The B2 team will be a technical partner to the rally for the fourth consecutive year, providing stationery supplies, IT support and all-important refreshments to the drivers and the organisers throughout the three days, as well as on-call support to ensure zero downtime on IT systems.

The team will also ensure that all functions of the back office team from the secretariat and stewards to control and media centre work efficiently.

Peter Ryan, B2 Business Systems managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be involved again this year and proud that our technical services will form part of the essential back office support behind such a major event for the region.

“The B2 team has built a great working relationship with the rally organisation over the 4 years of our support. We’re also looking forward to seeing the action first hand as the WRC drivers pass through the streets of Llandudno to the finishing line and seeing history being made on the promenade.”

Of course, you will not be able to watch the team in action, but for the Wales Rally GB tune in to Channel 5 or BT Sport.
