A WOMAN was taken by air ambulance to hospital following a serious crash near Denbigh.

The crash happened on the A543 near Bylchau last night (Tuesday, October 2).

North Wales Police were called just after 6pm. The incident involved a black BMW 330, a red Peugeot and a Daf heavy goods vehicle.

The female driver of the Peugeot was taken to Aintree Hospital with serious life threatening injuries.

The male driver of the BMW was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

Sergeant Raymond Williams, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are keen to speak to any witnesses or anybody who may have been travelling along the A543 and who may have seen the black BMW prior to the head on collision.

“Equally, we’d also like to speak to anybody who may have been travelling along the route around the time of the collision and who may have dash cam footage from their vehicles.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.05pm to a reports of a road traffic collision on the A543 near Bylchau.

"We responded with two rapid response vehicles, two emergency ambulances, an advanced paramedic practitioner, an air ambulance and crews were supported by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) and a Critical Care Practitioner, where one patient was taken by air ambulance to Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool and one patient was taken by road ambulance to Glan Clwyd Hospital.”
