CORWEN'S Harry Wilson was the star attraction in Dublin last night... on and off the pitch!

Derby County player Wilson bagged the only goal as Wales defeated the Republic of Ireland 1-0 to leapfrog Denmark and go top of their UEFA Nations League group.

And a banner of Wilson, created by his uncle Ian Evans, was also a popular attraction in the stand at the Aviva Stadium.

Ian, from Corwen, said: "Oh, it was unbelievable!

"My little lad turned to me and said 'this is going in, dad'.

"I said no chance!

"When the ball hit the back of the net, the atmosphere was unbelievable.

"How he does it, I don't know."

The only goal of the contest arrived in the 58th minute when Harry Wilson netted a stunning free kick from 20 yards.

Over in Dublin, Mr Evans was reunited with his Harry Wilson banner, which he lost during a previous UEFA Nations League match in Denmark.

After losing the banner, Mr Evans said: "For Dublin, I'm taking my wife and my little boy Henry - and he will be looking after it!

"Somebody else has picked it up and it's ended up in lost and found in Copenhagen.

"It was lovely and the guy that's got it messaged me and we will organise things shortly."

He added: "We have got it back, now.

"We couldn't take it down afterwards, because all the Welsh lads were taking photos with it.

"It's been a really, really good trip."
