A TERRIFIC trio will be supplying musical entertainment this weekend.

The Huw Warren Trio will be performing at Denbigh's Theatr Twm o’r Nant on Saturday evening, October 27.

This evening is being organised by volunteers from the Wireless in Wales Museum and Carriageworks CIC Dinbych.

Providing the entertainment will be Huw Warren (piano), Steve Berry (bass) and Zoot Warren (drums).

Huw Warren is one of the UK’s leading composers / pianists, whose unique approach combines improvisation with folk, world and new music influences.

He has released several solo recordings of original music, as well as project albums using source material as diverse as John Dowland, Welsh hymns and the music of Brazilian Hermeto Pascoal. He is currently an ECM recording artist and he has participated in international collaborations with the likes of Maria Pia de Vito, Ralph Towner, Jim Black, Kenny Wheeler and Thomas Stronen.

As a composer, he has written for jazz and classical groups, including Perfect Houseplants, Orlando Consort, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Welsh Chamber Orchestra, the LPO Renga Ensemble, the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, Pamela Thorby, Elena Riu and the ABRSM Jazz syllabus.

Huw won the coveted BBC Jazz Award for Innovation in 2005 and he has also received the ACW Creative Wales award

He is a senior jazz tutor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as being head of jazz ensembles at the School of Music, Cardiff University.

He was artist-in-residence at the Brecon International Jazz Festival between 2012 and 2015, creating the World Wide Wales international collaborations and acting as programming consultant
