STAFF at a Rhyl opticians have taken part in a sponsored walk for a leading sight loss charity.

Five members of staff, from Specsavers, walked five miles in aid of national sight loss charity, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

The walk began on the beach near Splash Point travelling through Prestatyn Nova before finishing on Gwaenysgor Hill.

The sponsored walk was part of events taking place for National Eye Health Week, during which Specsavers and RNIB ramped up their efforts in raising awareness of the importance of eye tests. This year, which marks the charity's 150th anniversary, the partnership is specifically urging Britain's ageing workforce to keep on top of its eye health.

Nia Jones, optical assistant at Specsavers in Rhyl, said: "The sponsored walk was a fantastic way for our team to spend time together while raising money for this very worthy cause.

"We are all in awe of the fantastic work that RNIB does for people living with sight loss, so anything we can do to help is hugely worthwhile.

"Thank you to everyone that has donated so far and we hope that our efforts will make a real difference to the lives of those suffering with sight loss."

Specsavers joined forces with RNIB in 2016 to raise awareness of the importance of getting your eyes tested.
