A HOST of activities will be taking place around Upper Denbigh on Saturday.
Children from Ysgol Pendref school have already been busy taking part in an art competition depicting how they see Upper Denbigh in ten years time.

The children’s artwork will be on display and the overall prize of a Google Nexus tablet, sponsored by Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd, will be presented to the lucky winner at Canolfan Seion.

On Cae Howell, from 11am, there will be play activities organised by Verve Sports, Rhyl Adventure Playground Association, Denbighshire County Council, with support from Streetgames.

At Canolfan Seion, from midday, the Denbigh Carnival group and local people will provide opportunities to look at photos and images of the past sharing their own memories of friends and the community.

Well-known local historian and retired head teacher Mr Bobi Owen will bring his knowledge to share in an informal atmosphere.
Local volunteers will be providing light refreshments too!

The Upper Denbigh Community Partnership in conjunction with the Upper Denbigh Community Development Project funded by The Big Lottery Fund Wales is holding this informal celebration event with the aim of providing local residents with the opportunity to share its rich history and look forward to the future.
Local residents will also have the opportunity to talk informally to various local groups and agencies.

This is very important especially now that Upper Denbigh has been identified as a Communities First area by the Welsh Government, bringing in much needed funded support.

County Councillor Colin Hughes, chairperson of the Upper Denbigh Community Partnership said:

“Our aim is to create a day about listening to the needs of our local residents, but at the same time, sharing and celebrating what’s good about Upper Denbigh. The celebration promises to be a great event of shared memories and a vision for the future.”
