A MISSING pensioner has been found dead, police officers believe.
Emergency services were called to an address in Llangollen at just after 9am yesterday where the body of the woman, named locally as Gwyneth Morris and believed to be in her 90s, was discovered.
It is believed Mrs Morris was a resident at a care home in the area.
North Wales Police officers conducted a search on Monday with the help of a force helicopter but to no avail.
Llangollen councillor Stuart Davies said: “It is always sad when your hear about things such as this happening. My thoughts are with her family.
“We heard the police helicopter at about midnight and I was very sad to hear the news.”
A North Wales Police spokesman said yesterday: “Police attended at an address in the Llangollen area this morning where the body of an elderly woman was found on surrounding land belonging to the property.
“An ambulance attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The body is thought to be that of an elderly local woman who was reported missing last night. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and the coroner will be informed.”
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 9.02am on Tuesday, January 28, to an address in Llangollen.
“We sent two emergency ambulances to the scene, where an elderly woman was pronounced dead.”
