A TOWN councillor and beauty queen has passed on her galactic crown after a year-long reign.
Denbigh town councillor Rachael Tate, aged 24, from Henllan, won the title of Miss Galaxy Wales in March 2013 and has now passed her title onto the 2014 winner from South Wales.
Rachael was also crowned as Miss Galaxy International last summer after she travelled to the USA and showed the judges her true Welsh charm.
Having passed on the crown, she looked back over a busy year juggling fund raising, being a town councillor, full-time care work and travelling to modeling shoots.
Rachael said: “I cannot believe a year has passed since I was crowned.
“My year as Miss Galaxy Wales allowed me to participate in many different charity and other events as part of my title.
“I have been able to travel, gain further sponsorships such as my gown sponsor The Dress Studio in Warrington.
“I was able to travel to Portugal as part of my title for a portfolio shoot which was an amazing experience.”
Rachael has helped promote various events in Denbigh including the Denbigh Carnival and Christmas lights switch on as well as helping charities Alder Hey Hopital, British Heart Foundation and Arthritis Care.
Rachael will remain Miss Galaxy International until August 2014 and will travel to America to hand over her title as part of a week long event.
The Free Press asked Rachael what’s her most rememberable moments of representing Wales.
She said: “I couldn’t pick out one outstanding event as I have so many lovely memories.
“The Miss Galaxy pageant has provided me with many excellent experiences and opened many doors. This pageant has allowed me to grow further in confidence, and make new friends and contacts as well as providing me with a platform for supporting some special causes.”
Rachael is also available to support charity events and activities in the area until August.
