TWO new permanent GPs opened their Corwen practice last week.
Dr Graham Thomas and Dr Chris Stockport have taken over the running of the Corwen Health Centre practice which has had a range of locums since December after the GP resigned.
The GPs have taken over as new partnership and the health centre has been renamed as the Corwen Family Practice.
To mark the opening a competition has been run with local schools to design a logo for the new practice which signifies the rural nature of Corwen.
The winner of the competition was Dafydd Lee, 10, from Ysgol Caer Drewyn.
Dr Stockport said: “We are looking forward to delivering a great person-focused GP service from April which local residents can be proud of.
“We have inherited a great team of staff from the old practice and we are all absolutely delighted with the logo created by Dafydd which faced some tough competition. Dafydd’s winning logo is fresh, bold and local and it will set the practice off to a good start.”
The other competition entries will be framed and displayed around the practice.
Dr Stockport said the Corwen Family Practice will “reflect an exciting and fresh start, and to signify the family and community approach which underpins the ethos of the practice”.
The competition winner Dafydd said: “I was inspired by the Berwyn Mountains and the River Dee that surround Corwen.
“I chose the colours as they blended well together to create a tranquil scene.”
Dafydd visited the surgery last week to unveil the new logo ready for yesterday’s opening.
He received a framed copy of the logo along with an artists drawing set as a prize.
