A VALE of Clwyd family said they were concerned for the safety of their father who is missing in Greece.
Arthur Jones, aged 73, of Lenton Pool, was holidaying alone in Chania, Crete and was last seen on Thursday, June 19.
After failing to board his return flight on Tuesday, June 24, he has now been reported missing and a search has been launched by Greek authorities.
Son Jeff Jones, aged 37, said: “My father is a keen walker and was believed to be hiking in the hills of Chania the day he went missing.
“He normally goes on these sorts of holidays alone about two or three times a year, and we are asking that anybody who remembers seeing him during this time to contact the authorities immediately.”
The retired scaffolder, who also worked with the British Army Cadets until last year, was staying in the Paradakalis apartments and a hotel rep has stated that he had not used his room since last Thursday.
Mr Jones said: “Sometimes he does just use his room as a base if he finds a good route, and it is not unusual for him to stay in a hostel or camp out for the night if he finds a good route, but not making his flight home or being in-touch with us is very unusual.”
Anyone that has been on holiday in the area recently and remembers seeing Arthur is urged to contact the Police on 101, or the Missing Abroad Operations Team on 02070 475060.
Alternatively, you can get in-touch with Jeff via his email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
