North Wales Fire and Rescue warning ahead of further strikes

NORTH Wales Fire and Rescue are urging residents to be extra vigilant ahead of further strikes next week.

The first of the strikes were held on Thursday, July 10, and there are further plans to strike every day from Monday July 14, to Monday July 21.

Simon Smith, chief fire officer at North Wales Fire and Rescue, said: “Our business continuity arrangements are operating effectively, and we are managing well with the reduction in our resources during strike action.

“The number of calls made to our control room during today’s strike was lower than we would normally expect and I would like to thank the public for their cooperation and for taking notice of our safety messages.

"However,  I am urging the public to take care not be complacent – with a further period of eight days of intermittent strikes ahead of us next week it is vital that we continue to take extra care.”

This latest strike, led by the Fire Brigades Union, is to protest against Government plans for pensions.

List of strike times:

• Monday, July 14: 6am–8am and 5pm–7pm.
• Tuesday, July 15: 6am–8am and 5pm–7pm.
• Wednesday, July 16: 6am–8am and 5pm–7pm.
• Thursday, July 17: 6am–8am and 5pm–7pm.
• Friday, July 18: 6am–8am and 11pm–1am.
• Saturday, July 19: 11am–1pm and 11pm–1am.
• Sunday, July 20: 5pm–7pm.
• Monday, July 21: 6am–8am and 5pm–7pm.
