What would you do with a cathedral for a day?

A CITY prize is up for grabs for charitable organisations.

One lucky charity will be offered the chance to hold an event or concert in St Asaph Cathedral free of charge in 2015 - a prize worth £700.

Every year the cathedral offers the prize to a charitable organisation.

Previous winners include St Kentigern Hospice, Arthritis Research UK and the St Asaph Choral Society.

All of these charities have been able to use the prestigious venue for a fundraising concert.

Charities who are interested in entering the competition should download an application form from the cathedral website and entries should be received no later than Tuesday, September 30.

A decision on the winner will be made by the end of November.

Dean of St Asaph Cathedral, the Very Rev Nigel Williams said: “It’s great to offer the cathedral free of charge for a fellow charity to use.

"We receive so many worthy requests, but sadly we can only afford to give the use of the cathedral free of charge once a year.

"It’s never an easy choice to decide who receives the prize, especially as we get so many strong entries from far and wide.

“As a charity, St Asaph Cathedral relies on the generosity of worshippers and visitors, so I hope that this prize can help other charities to raise much needed funds for their activities.”

The decision of the cathedral dean and chapter is final.
