ARTHUR JONES: Cadets pay tribute to "star man and absolute legend"

THREE detachments of the Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadet Force are represented in Denbigh today to pay tribute to “a star man and legend” of the force.

Staff and cadets from Denbigh, Prestatyn and Rhyl, as well as hall headquarters staff, are at St Mary's Church in Denbigh today for the funeral of Arthur “Bootsie” Jones.

Denbigh Platoon Commander Paul Burrows said: “It is a solemn day for the Cadet Force. We are going to miss a very important man for the Cadets.

“He has been a star man and an absolute legend.”

Madeline Booth, of Prestatyn Cadets, said: “We are here to show respect for everything he has done for the Force.”

Nathan Yates, of Rhyl Cadets, said: “His service is something I would like to emulate.”

Cadet Eoghann Houston added: “I met him on my first night of Cadets – he was always willing to help out.

 

“He has done so much for the Cadets. He will be missed.”
