ST BRIGID'S is celebrating another year of exceptional results for their GCSE students, with 100% pass rate, 93% of students attaining five or more A*-C grades and more than a third of students achieving five or more A-A*.
The percentage of students gaining 5 A*-C grades including Maths and English improved by 10% to over 80%.
The school enjoyed improvements in almost every measure in the year that saw the completion of the school’s first mixed cohort year.
Particular recognition this year goes to: Catherine Williams, 6 A*s, 4 As; Lona Roberts, 4 A*, 7A; Chino Iwobi 6 A* 3A, 2B and Ellenor Davis-McCoy, 4 A*, 3 A, 3B.
The School’s Combined Cadet Force contributed to the students’ success with 30 students gaining at least a Distinction in their Public Services BTEC qualification.
Rona Jones, headteacher, said: “These results represent improvement in almost every measure at GCSE and are testament to the hard work and determination of our students, parents and staff.
"Everyone has worked so hard to bring our first coeducational year through successfully. The character and confidence of our young students is to be applauded and we look forward to many of them returning to our sixth form next year.
"We are really proud of our improved results from Foundation Phase to A-level which have been achieved following a period of uncertainty for the school.”
