AN intrepid bunch from the Vale of Clwyd have successfully completed an epic challenge.

Staff and friends of Ruthin's Ysgol Pen Barras took on an energetic event recently, which saw them walking around three North Wales lakes in just 24 hours.

The challenge took place to raise funds for SANDS - and almost £4,000 has been raised so far!

Participants met at Llyn Brenig to complete the first part of the challenge.

Then, the following morning, lake number two - Llyn Tegid, in Bala - was completed, before those taking part headed off to Llyn Alwen for the final part.

An Ysgol Pen Barras spokesperson said: "Having completed our challange we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support and kindness, we at Ysgol Pen Barras are very grateful.

"We completed Llyn Brenig in rain and high winds on Friday, March 17, followed by a very sunny walk around Llyn Tegid on Saturday morning!

"Llyn Alwen did not seem to end but finally we finished in good time!

"Thanks to Woody's Cafe, Bala for supplying bacon baps for us all after walking around Llyn Tegid.

"We have raised nearly £4,000 for the SANDS charity."

The Just Giving page is still open for further donations.
