A Wellbeing Weekend is being for people feeling in need of a a break.

Elidan’s Pilgrim Church in Llanelidan, near Ruthin, will be hosting a Wellbeing Weekend from Friday, August 4, until Sunday, August 6.

It will everything from poetry writing and afternoon tea, to Tai Chi and meditation, there will be something for everyone.

It promises to be an opportunity for people to relax and recharge their batteries in tranquil surroundings.

St Elidan’s Church is an ancient site in a stunning and peaceful location.

The first surviving written record of the village of Llanelidan is dated 1207, which implies there was an enclosure with a church here before that date. However, the first mention of the church of St Elidan is in 1254 – though the enclosure is likely to be much more ancient than the church.

Andrew Sumner will be on hand during Saturday’s Afternoon Tea to answer your questions about the history of the church.

Any funds raised during the Wellbeing Weekend will go towards maintaining the churchyard and keeping this ancient and sacred place looking beautiful.

Activities taking place in St Elidan’s Church will include:

Friday

  • 6-7pm: Taize & Healing service by candlelight

Saturday

  • 10am-12: Poetry Workshop, exploring the theme of ‘Stillness’, with Leaf Pettit and Pat Sumner
  • 1.30-2.30pm: Sound Bath Meditation with Laurie Hadden-Deering
  • 3.30-5pm: Afternoon Tea

Sunday

  • 10.30-11.30am: Gentle Tai Chi for all the family with Gaynor Gaynor (outdoors, or in the village hall if it’s wet)
  • 2-4pm: Mindfulness Walk around beautiful Llanelidan with Tad Huw Bryant
  • 6-7pm: Choral Evensong
