THIS year’s Denbigh Show is fast approaching, with an array of activities for all the family get involved in.

The show will be held at Ystrad Road, Denbigh from midday on August 26, and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

In the main arena will be the BMX Stunt Show, where you can expect to see some of the UK’s top riders, including Red Bull Athletes, flying through the air performing tricks and stunts.

An owl and falconry display will take place, and the Wizard of Conwy will leave visitors spellbound with his unique street magic, tricks and spells.

Also returning is ‘slot car’ racing, with visitors invited to take on the four-lane circuit.

The Denbigh Community Archive Group will be holding a local history exhibition in the main marquee, this year’s theme being Denbigh Clubs and Societies.

The Fun Dog Show, which has grown in popularity over the years, will this year partner with Ark Angels Animal Rescue, who will be running an 11-strong Dog Show throughout the afternoon from 2pm.

With different categories and a small entrance fee for the benefit of the animal charity, there will be rosettes and prizes for the winners.

A traditional bar will sell a range of beers, wines and spirits, with specific gin and prosecco bars.

Two popular bands will be returning to provide live music - the Beat Pilots, who performed last year, and Denbigh’s own Keenan Jones Band.

Among the side shows are a treasure trail, junior roll the barrel, glitter art, a fun fair and more than 50 classic cars and bike displays.

A honey tasting competition will be held, and you will be able to sample the best of regional culinary delights in the food hall.

The much-loved flower show celebrates its 79th year, where almost 300 classes will offer all aspects of horticulture, floristry, art, handicraft, cookery and photography. 

For younger competitors there are dedicated sections.

In addition to the prize money for the winners, there are more than 60 cups and trophies, including one that is voted for by the general public.

Admission for adults is £7, for senior citizens £5, while entry is free for children.

There is ample parking on site, as well as a half hourly Denbigh circular shuttle bus service from 12.30pm.
