THE NUMBER of arrests made during a Christmas Anti Drink and Drug Drive campaign for north Wales has been revealed.
The national month-long operation began on Friday, December 1, and police forces across the country have been using intelligence-led tactics and local knowledge of hotspots to detect people who are driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol over the festive period.
North Wales Police have been using social media as well as a digital advertising campaign to drive home the message of the consequences surrounding drink or drug driving.
And now the force has revealed just how many arrests they have made during their December campaign.
In all, 62 drink drivers and 80 drug drivers have been arrested throughout North Wales.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "This includes arrests made on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day - not such a happy Christmas after all.
"Of course arrests are carried out throughout the year and we are fully committed to help make the roads safer for all.
"We’ll continue to target those who endanger their own lives and the lives of others. Please heed the warning."
The statement came after Freedom of Information data obtained by the Leader revealed that during December 2022, in Wrexham the force recorded five drink-drive incidents, one driving whilst unfit through drugs, one driving with drugs over the legal limit and one driving whilst unfit through drink.
During that same month in Flintshire the force recorded one incident of driving whilst unfit through drugs, one drink-drive and five driving with drugs over the legal limit.
Between January and November of this year, North Wales Police made 868 drink drive arrests and 786 drug drive arrests.
