A BUSINESS that has been in Ruthin for 40 years is not only moving, but expanding.

Smith Family Opticians, on 55 Well Street, is moving across the road to 39 Well Street.

The new shop will open on Monday, February 26.

Lorraine Roberts, dispensing optician, said: "My parents, who are now retired, started the business from scratch when I was three years old. I have very fond memories as a child of visiting Ruthin, especially the treats at the craft centre in their lunch hours.

"We have never strayed far from Well Street having started in the NFU building and when they needed the extra space, we moved across the road to where we are now at number 55, and now - it will be a switch back over the road to number 39.

"I started working for my parents full time when I was 22 and then my brother joined us when my parents semi-retired.

Lorraine, who runs the business with her brother Kevin Smith, added: "We are very excited about expanding our business to enable us to have two consulting rooms.
