BALA has been ranked the 101st easiest place to pass your driving test in the UK, according to a new study.

Government figures show that, in the last 12 months, 342 driving tests have been conducted at the Bala centre, with 186 passing – representing a pass rate of 54.4 per cent.

Out of the 328 driving test centres in the UK, those in North Wales were ranked as follows in terms of the easiest:

  • Pwllheli – 89th
  • Bala – 101st
  • Bangor – 120th
  • Rhyl – 137th
  • Wrexham – 226th

Figures also show that, between April 2023 to March 2024, a total of 166 males took driving tests in Rhyl, with 91 passing.

This represented a pass rate of 54.8 per cent.

During the same time period, 176 females took their tests, with 95 passing.

This meant a pass rate of 54 per cent.

The list of the five driving test centres with the highest pass rates in the UK were as follows:

  1. Benbecula Island (88.8 per cent)
  2. Barra (88.2 per cent)
  3. Mallaig (83.3 per cent)
  4. Inveraray (76.5 per cent)
  5. Arbroath (73.1 per cent)

The five driving test centres with the lowest pass rates in the UK were:

  1. Plymouth LGV (16.9 per cent)
  2. Swindon LGV (17.5 per cent)
  3. Wolverhampton (32.4 per cent)
  4. Speke, Liverpool (32.7 per cent)
  5. Featherstone (33.3 per cent)
