A FAMILY awaiting news of their loved one who was last seen in the Eryri area four months ago have told of their "living nightmare".

David Brookfield, known to family members at Dave, has been missing from the Carneddau area of Eryri since January 9. He texted his wife Lesley from the top of Carnedd Llewelyn. No further contact was received.

North Wales Police confirmed that searches continue for Dave.

In a statement, the family said: "Dave has been missing for more than 14 weeks.

"The police are still searching but are still yet to do a lot of drone searches because of bad weather.

"We, as a family, continue to search when possible but we are so distraught. Everyday is a living nightmare... it is heartbreaking.

"We miss him so much.

"We need to find him and we are just hoping, as the weather gets better, people will be out walking."

The family are encouraging walkers to share any details they come across relating to Dave, however small, with North Wales Police.

Daughter-in-law Klare Brookfield said in February: "We just miss him so much.

"We really want to appeal to walkers and members of the public to keep a look out for any personal belongings or if anyone saw or spoke to him that day."

Dave is a former transport and warehouse manager.

He is described as a very experienced walker and organised his own walking group in work.

Before his disappearance, he was looking forward to his retirement and going on adventures in his campervan.

Multi-agency searches have taken place following Dave's disappearance. Walkers and members of the public have been asked to look out for a large backpack.

Anyone who may have seen Dave are asked to contact police via their website or by calling 101. Quote reference: Q004447.
