BALA 13
MOLD 10
IT’S still all to play for as far as Bala are concerned in the North Wales Cup.
The men from Maes Gwyniad entertained higher league Mold in the first leg of their first round clash - and it’s Bala just about in the box seat.
The SWALEC League Division Two (North-North) hosts ran out 13-10 winners, to take a slender advantage into this Saturday’s second leg test at Mold’s Chester Road ground.
Despite the difference in league standings, Bala adapted better to the heavy rain on the day.
Division One (North) high-flyers Mold, who were without the unavailable Richard Hopkins and the injured Patrick Hughes, did manage to run in two tries with Liam Gill crossing the whitewash.
However, Bala were able to take the victory with a try, a conversion and two penalties.
