POLICE have been forced to close a Denbigh car park due to re-occuring anti social behaviour from drivers.

South Denbighshire Neighbourhood Policing Team said they have received numerous complaints from members of the public in relation to anti social driving/gathering at the front of the antiques centre on Rhyl Road in Denbigh.

"Drivers have been congregating at the location in their vehicles, playing loud music and revving their engines, this has sometimes gone on until the early hours of the morning and is unacceptable," said PC Chris Davies.

"The drivers have been warned and moved on a number of times but their behaviour continues."

To combat this problem the Neighbourhood Policing Team has agreed with the businesses that the car park will be locked using a cable at the close of business everyday.

"We realise this will cause inconvenience for some members of the public who use the car park to stop at the off-license, however this can not be avoided."

The closure will commence on Thursday, November 12.

Councillor Raymond Bartley said: "This area has been causing concern for quite sometime with anti social behaviour and now we hope that by restricting parking there in the evening this will solve the problem because the neighbours have been putting up with the noise, rubbish and reoccuring anti social behaviour.

"This action I hope will solve the problem."
