GWYNEDD motorists are getting pee’ed off at an old road sign that has not been updated leaving people bursting to spend a penny.

The toilets in Llanuwchllyn were shut by Gwynedd County Council in November but a road sign directing people to the toilets is still on the roadside as motorists approach the village.

One angry user who may have been caught short has graffitied the councils closed sign on the public toilets that is attached to the ladies door, writing
"Take down the sign then. Save us all some grief!!! Going to the toilet is not a luxury!”

The roadsign that directs people to the closed toilets is located on the A494, a busy trunk road.

One Gwynedd resident said: "This means motorists are directed of the main road and 1,000 yards into the village of Llanuwchllyn to be informed by a poster notifying them the toilet has been closed for several months and will be permanently closed."

The resident added the toilets were quite important to the village because Arriva bus passengers used it to stop off at on the Wrexham to Barmouth route.

A Gwynedd Council spokesman said: "Arrangements are in place to remove the sign as soon as possible.

"As part of this work, councillors agreed that work should be undertaken to identify whether it is possible to work with communities throughout the county to continue to maintain a number of public toilets,” he added.

“As part of this work, Gwynedd Council has established innovative partnerships with a number of community councils and other local groups to maintain public toilets in some areas.

“When this has not been possible, some public toilets will close during the winter months, with others closing permanently."

The council sign in the toilet directs people to the nearest public toilet in Plassey car park, Y Bala.

“Approximately 30 Gwynedd businesses – including in the Y Bala area - have so far joined a new initiative which sees their toilet facilities being made available for use by members of the public."
