GOODWILL is spreading through Denbigh as local groups are rallying around to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
Last Tuesday the earthquake of epic proportions, reaching 7.0 on the magnitude scale ripped through the Republic of Haiti killing up to 200,000 people.
The earthquake hit the capital Port au Prince and was followed by two strong aftershocks of 5.9 and 5.5 magnitude leaving 90 per cent of the buildings damaged.
To help with the relief efforts Denbigh Christian Aid will be holding a coffee morning and fair trade stall on Saturday, January 23 from 10am until midday at St Mary's Church in Denbigh.
Denbigh Rotary Club were rapid in their response and have already sent two ShelterBoxes to the Haitian victims.
Each ShelterBox cost £490 and contains a 10-person tent, blankets, water purification and cooking equipment, basic tools, a stove and other essential equipment.
Rotary Club spokesman Gareth Foulkes said: "Rotary is the key movement behind the purchase and storage of these boxes in readiness for disasters such as has happened at Haiti. We held an emergency meeting and agreed to send money for two boxes straight away."
In addition, by kind permission of the management at the Denbigh Morrisons’ Store, Rotary collection boxes have been placed by each check out.
Mr Foulkes added if people wish to make a donation towards purchasing further ShelterBoxes, you can pay it into the Rotary Charity Account number 61150170 at HSBC Denbigh, sort code 40.19.12.
