RUTHIN 14
DINBYCH 5
A SPOT in the last-16 of the SWALEC Plate is Ruthin’s reward after they edged past Vale of Clwyd rivals Dinbych.
From the start it was obvious that a dour struggle between the packs would be a dominant feature of the game.
Dinbych’s performance suffered from indiscipline with 16 of the 20 penalties awarded in the match against them and two yellow cards going to the visitors.
Fly-half Jamie Morris kicked three penalties for the home side and scrum-half Wil Davies completed Ruthin’s points scoring with an unconverted try.
Dinbych managed to get one try back in the second half through James Wynne.
Ruthin’s last-16 opponents in the SWALEC Plate will be Llantwit Vardre, who saw off Pentyrch 23-13 in their rearranged third round tie on Saturday.
Tries from Mark Dolman, Paul Tampsett and Geraint George set up the victory, while Carl Thomas kicked two penalties and a conversion.
