A SPECIAL St David’s Day concert will be held in recognition of a Denbighshire star.
The concert, held at Rhyl Pavilion has been organised to showcase local talent and also that of Llanrhaeadr’s own West End star- Mark Evans.
“It’s kind of like a Mark and friends event,” said Mark, who starred as the Prince in Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in Llandudno during the festive period.
“There are a number of people involved including myself, Ruthin Choir and two choirs from Ysgol Glan Clwyd.
“My chapel minister Wayne Roberts is organising the event,” he added.
Mr Roberts, who lives in Mark’s hometown of Llanrhaeadr said: “Mark was very keen to stage a concert of his own. So I said I would organise it for him.”
Tickets for the show, held on Monday, March 1 at Rhyl Pavilion are only available from the theatre.
Mark added: “I wanted to be able to thank everyone who has supported me, so this show is a thank you to them.”
Also taking part will be Glerorfa - the folk orchestra of Wales and two of last years West End In Wales students - Bethan Jukes Hughes and Rhys Roberts.
West End In Wales is a six day musical theatre summer school run by mark, for youngsters aged between 10 and 17.
Professional West End performers come to Wales to train students in singing, dancing and acting.
The course runs this year from Monday, August 9 - Saturday, August 14, and Monday, August 16 - Saturday, August 21.
Mark is currently touring the UK with the Rocky Horror Picture Show, playing the part of Brad.
“I was supposed to leave the production before Christmas, but they asked me to stay on an extra four weeks,” said Mark.
“Its quite sad really that it will soon be coming to an end, I’ve had such great fun, it is an amazing show with amazing people.
“Its been a busy schedule, calling at 14 different venues.
“I will be touring for another two weeks, and then I am off to New York,” he added.
But there is no rest for the star, who literally hours after landing back in the UK will be straight back in rehearsals for his next show Oklahoma before it heads off on an eight month UK tour.
The show will be at the Rhyl Pavilion from November 8 to November 13.
