NORTH East Wales Youth League front-runners Ruthin were in seventh heaven as they comfortably saw off the challenge of Colwyn Bay.

In spring-like weather at Cae Ddol, the home side strengthened their hand at the head of the rankings to run out easy winners, scoring seven tries without reply.

Colwyn Bay gained only a single penalty for their efforts.

It was a thriller of an afternoon for winger Jack Higgins, who definitely impressed in scoring a hat-trick of tries, two of which came in the first half.

RGC1404 star Jac Williams and Ed Mason also crossed the whitewash in the first half to put the game beyond doubt before half-time.

Two minutes into the second half and Dafydd Lloyd continued the scoring with a try under the posts.

Higgins completed his hat-trick and Wil Mitchelmore got the final touchdown for Ruthin.

Shay Tudor kicked five conversions to add the gloss to his side’s 45-3 triumph.
