MARK Webster failed in his quest to reach the latter stages of two PDC events in Gibraltar over the weekend.

The world championship semi-finalist competed in two Players Championship events, the first of which on Saturday was the Stan James.com Eddie Cox Memorial Players Championship.

A tough preliminary round pairing saw the Denbigh ace tackle Alex Roy, with Webster coming through 6-4, but in the first round proper he was pipped 6-5 by 17th seed Andy Smith.

In Sunday’s Players Championship competition, Mark began the tournament in fine fashion with a first round 6-0 whitewash of Mark Robinson.

In the next round Mark won a nail-biter 6-5 versus Alan Tabern, but Webster’s progress was halted by a 6-1 loss to Andy Hamilton in the next round.

Colin Lloyd claimed victory in Saturday’s Gibraltar Players Championship event, while Denis Ovens was cooking to triumph in Sunday’s contest.
