MOVIE stand-in Spencer Wilding has landed his biggest ever role in a Hollywood blockbuster.
Spen, from Rhyl, is the stunt double for film heart throb Benicio Del Toro in the chiller The Wolfman which has just reached our cinemas.
The former kickboxing champion landed the role which took him to Hollywood and a meeting with acting great Sir Anthony Hopkins who also stars in the film about a man who turns into monster.
He managed to smuggle his two sons, partner and mother on to the set at London’s Pinewood Studios where they met up with superstar Hopkins who Spen described as “a real gent”.
“He came over and chatted to my family - a lovely guy. It really was a pleasure working with him.”
Spen also rubbed shoulders with British beauty Emily Blunt and gave her a few boxing lessons.
Standing in for Del Toro tested superfit Spen to the limit spending up to 18 hours a day on set performing terrifying leaps and runs.
He said: “Without doubt it was the most physical role I have ever had.”
Spencer’s mum, Mary, said she was “bursting with pride” watching watching her son acting alongside Sir Anthony Hopkins.
“What mother wouldn’t be proud. Spencer should be very proud of what he has achieved in such a short time."
Earlier Spencer’s family, including his mum, partner Jolene and sons, George, eight, and Bobby Joe, four, had been collected from the railway station by chauffer and driven to the studios to watch filming, and a meeting with Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Mary said: “We just pulled up outside the studios and were looking out the back of the taxi when Spencer came out in full costume to meet us.This was the afternoon and to see this Wolfman walking up towards us - well can you imagine it.
“My heart was racing and Bobby Joe looked scared. It was funny seeing this big wolf faced man say ‘it’s okay, It’s daddy’.”
