PLENTY of missed opportunities resulted in a 0-0 draw last night between Wrexham and Tamworth at the Racecourse, leaving a crowd of 2,435 disappointed.
Before the game Wrexham fans were feeling optimistic during the cold weather, warming their hands on flasks there were warm cheers as the home team came out.
Speaking to Wrexham's Mark Williams before the game, who is out as a result of an injury said: "I'm confident for a win despite loosing the last game, we've won the past three."
Wrexham legend Joey Jones agreed: "You've got to be confident for a win.
"There's no point putting on your boots if you're not confident for a win."
Both stated that they were not happy with their current position in the table and had high hopes for Wrexham to beat their adversaries.
Wrexham started the game steadily but keeping the balls play down their end. Two minutes in Wrexham's Luke Holden gave a wide shot which just missed the crossbar.
Tamworth fought back with a shot on target shot by Lyseden Christie, but it was saved by Wrexham's Sam Russell.
Plenty of missed opportunities came through the first half but ultimately failed.
Wrexham's Andy Flemming got himself booked after 40 minutes which left a chance for Tamworth to take the lead through a free kick.
The effort fell wide and the game was still at 0-0 at half-time.
The second half saw a continuation of the poor performance from both sides.
Fans were now eager to see some goals being scored.
Both teams had numerous chances to secure the win, but didn't take them as well as they could have.
Numerous substitutions took place, which didn't help either team perform better.
As the whistle blew, Wrexham's Andy Flemming was awarded Man of the Match.
Wrexham Manager Dean Saunders should look on the positive side not to have been beaten by the underdogs, but should be disappointed with the team lack of on target shots.
