The website is Britain’s largest site aimed at introducing married people looking to have affairs with the slogan 'Married but Feeling neglected? In need of some excitement?'
It describes itself as being “a discreet and confidential extra-marital dating service for women and men.”
Many of the Denbighshire residents registered on the website claim to be happily married with 'no intention of changing things' and many have children.
The site allows married men and women to find like-minded people living nearby, chat with them, send virtual kisses and arrange to meet.
Carl, 26, from Denbighshire said he has been with his partner for three years but now 'she is more a friend than a partner' and 'wants no strings/casual sex.'
A 39 year-old married man known as 'FuninRhyl' is looking for 'fun female or couple to join up with for discreet fun and frolics' and said 'looks and age are unimportant.'
A spokeswoman for the website illicitencounters.com Rose Freeman-Jones said they had their busiest January to date with membership soaring.
"We have just over 410,000 members across the UK and Ireland and this January was our busiest month ever - we broke every record we'd ever set."
And it’s not just men who use the site, Sara Hartley, a representative at illicitencounters.com said the website has experienced a surge of female activity over the past few weeks as thousands of disillusioned wives take to the internet after a dismal Valentine’s Day.
“Valentine’s Day this year seemed to be a particularly important day for wives everywhere,” she said.
“Attitudes towards extra-marital relationships are changing and, today more than ever, women are less comfortable about ‘putting up’ with a neglectful spouse.
“These women need to feel appreciated and desired, and we hope that our site will connect them with others who can fulfil those needs.”
A 35 year-old Denbighshire woman said: "As I am married I am looking for something a bit discreet, not after a one night stand as I could quite easily go out and get that anytime. Looking for somebody who I click with and then we will see what happens."
