A LITTLE girl seriously injured in a crash which killed her 11-year-old brother has heard her mother’s voice for the first time since the tragedy.

Three-year-old Lilly May Evans, who has been moved to the orthopaedic ward at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool after showing positive signs, has been well enough for mum Karen to speak to her on the telephone.

Family members have been devastated by the crash which killed Lilly May’s brother, Jordan, and left Karen, 36, in hospital.

Karen, who is herself recovering well at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, was able to talk to her daughter over the phone thanks to staff at both hospitals.

Mark Evans, Karen’s brother, said yesterday: “Lilly May is being moved to the orthopaedic ward, which is really good news and she is breathing on her own, which is good.

“On Monday night they put a phone to her mother and put it on speaker. That cheered them both up.

“Lilly May didn’t talk much, but she was able to hear from her mother. They are going to try to do that every night.”

Jordan and Lilly May’s sister, Levi, 18, was released from hospital last week.

The crash happened when the Vauxhall Corsa the family was travelling in crashed on the slip road leading to the McDonald’s and Holiday Inn services on the westbound carriageway of the A55 on Thursday morning.

Mr Evans said Karen was also recovering well in hospital, and said: “It is looking brighter for them both.

“Everyone is really pleased to hear they are getting better.”

Tributes have been pouring in for Jordan, a pupil at Flint’s St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School who was a keen boxer.

Three Facebook groups have been set up in his memory and he was described by his family as a “truly wonderful caring and loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin”.

Headteacher Derek Doran also paid tribute to Jordan as “a very caring and supportive member of his class”.
