COMMUTERS faced disruption this morning (Wednesday, June 23) when a busy stretch of road south of Wrexham was closed after an accident involving a lorry.

The articulated wagon ended up on its side on the A5 between the Whitehurst and Halton roundabouts, close to Chirk.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened at 5.33am, and there were no injuries.

The fire service had pumps from the Chirk and Wrexham stations on stand-by, which left the scene just before 6am.

North Wales Police say the road is likely to be closed until around midday to allow the lorry to be recovered.
