Abergele's McCormack makes his veteran's debut

ABERGELE Harrier veteran Sean McCormack made his debut for the Welsh Senior team on Saturday in the Boddington 100k Anglo-Celtic Plate.

The four-man Welsh team took on teams from Ireland, England and Scotland in the ‘Home International’ that involves running 100k (62.1miles) over 28 laps of 2.2 miles.

Sean, making his debut at the distance ran a steady race, completing the first 50k in just under four hours and the second in just over five hours, setting an excellent overall time of 9.03.16.

As third Welsh counter, Sean helped to secure second place for Wales just behind England and well ahead of Scotland and Ireland.

Closer to home, three Harriers joined a field of 104 runners setting off from Rhuddlan to compete in the Riverbank 10k on Sunday morning.

Keith Elliott ran a personal best of 39.39 for 14th position overall and first MV45.

Ed Reid completed the distance in 42.51 for 27th position. Mark Mayers produced the second personal best of the day, finishing in 43.49 for 40th position.
