THE Dyfi bridge on the main road on the border between Powys and Gwynedd has been closed after being hit by a lorry.

Powys council said engineers were examining the bridge over the River Dyfi, near Machynlleth, to assess the damage.

The decision was taken to shut it after the lorry crashed at about 8.45am on Friday, June 25.

Diversions are in place for road users travelling on the A487 between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth
