A WREXHAM fashion designer had to come to the rescue of Prince Charles after he confessed to not recognising a host of celebrities in her work.
Susie Burne created a collage of celebrities, including Beyonce, to show to the Prince of Wales on a visit to Portmeirion.
But the Prince, accompanied by his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, had to be provided with stars’ names by the 25-year-old.
Miss Burne has setting up a business to recycle vintage clothes by modifying them for modern use.
Susie, of Saxon Street, was invited to meet the Prince at Portmeirion because she is hoping to get a loan from the Prince’s Trust to set up her fashion business online.
The graduate of a degree in fashion and clothing from Liverpool John Moore’s University currently has a Facebook site for her business called Memoir Vintage.
Speaking about meeting Charles and Camilla, Susie said: “I was really nervous but they were both really nice and down to earth.
“I made a frame of celebrities wearing vintage and Prince Charles asked who the celebrities were.”
Miss Burne has already been awarded with a £250 grant from the Prince’s Trust and has her own mentor from the organisation to help her with her business.
She is this week due to meet the Prince’s Trust Panel again to try and secure a loan from them for her business.
The budding designer also showed Prince Charles some of the clothes she had created and photographs of what they had looked like before being transformed.
She has also took part in about 20 affordable vintage fairs across the country.
The Prince, who spent the morning in Portmeirion with the Duchess and the afternoon on the banks of the Menai Strait on Anglesey, also showed interest in the work of the XL Club at Ysgol Dinas Bran, Llangollen.
