MORE than 80 people got on their bikes to raise money for charity.
An 89-strong team of eager cyclists, aged between seven and 71, turned out to take part in the 50km Gronant to Colwyn Bay bike ride to raise funds for blood cancer charity Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Organiser Loz Harrison, 44, a building control officer at Flintshire Council, was hoping to recruit 50 people to join him to mark the charity’s 50th anniversary, but was thrilled when far more people turned out.
He said: “It went absolutely brilliantly.
“We all got there and back with no accidents.
“We had quite a few punctures and broken down bikes, but other than that it went well.
“I was so elated when so many people turned up. Everyone had a great day and we had a bit of a shindig in Flint Golf Club afterwards.”
A charity golf tournament was also held at Flint Golf Club on the same day and was won by Karl Bithell.
Loz, from Flint, is hoping to have raised more than £5,000.
He added: “I would like to thank Sainsbury's in Flint, Asda in Queensferry, M&S Money catering department, Greenacres Caravan Park and Ian Reid from Flint Golf Club.”
Plans are under way to make the cycle challenge an annual event.
