PREPARATIONS for the new season have come to an end for Ruthin Town with a testing run of games.

Adie Jones’ charges travelled to Evo-Stik League outfit Chasetown on Saturday for their last friendly before the big Cymru Alliance kick-off this weekend.

Ruthin gave an encouraging performance at the Scholars Ground as they more than matched their higher level opponents before being edged out by a single goal.

Two nights earlier and Ruthin entertained Welsh Premier League side Airbus UK Broughton, who took along a strong squad for the match.

On the night both teams were evenly matched in an entertaining game which ended 1-1.

Ruthin’s goal was scored by Kev Garland.

It proved to be a busy week for the club as on Monday night Ruthin came away from Hollingwood FC having secured a 2-1 victory.

Goals from Sion Davies and Chris Hogg did the trick for Ruthin.

On the same night Ruthin Town Reserves paid a visit to Weston Rhyn and in a goal feast, the Denbighshire side ran out 6-4 winners.

Elgan Hughes and Jordan MacCarter both scored hat-tricks for the visitors.
