DENBIGH TOWN 1
PORTHMADOG 1
AN 80th minute free kick from Huw Price helped Denbigh grab a pre-season draw against Cymru Alliance side Porthmadog, reports Peter Glynn at Central Park.
It was an even contest throughout the 90 minutes, with Port having slightly the better of the first half.
The former Welsh Premier League outfit struck a post on 22 minutes and also saw a Cai Jones effort deflected over.
Yet Denbigh may have grabbed a brace themselves, with Ian Evans firing wide when well placed and next Jon Slater sent a header inches over the top.
Second-stanza action was mostly confined to the middle of the park, with defences now dominating.
However, one or two opportunities began to be created as the wind increased and from a breakaway on 61 minutes the visitors edged into the lead.
A whipped cross found the head of Marcus Orlik and the former Rhyl FC man’s looped header crept over Town custodian Ash Crosthwaite.
Port nearly extended their lead through Cai Jones a moment later but with 10 minutes remaining Denbigh scored from a set piece to earn their share.
Darren Cassidy got tumbled on the edge of the box and with Hobson selling a dummy run, Huw Price smashed a low hard effort through a disintegrating wall past Porthmadog’s Richard Harvey.
