RHUDDLAN TOWN 5
LLANSANNAN 0
FAILING to enjoy a nap to begin the campaign were well-beaten Llansannan.
It wasn’t the Clwyd League Premier Division start that Llan wanted as they were turned over at Rhuddlan Town, who took a two-goal lead into the interval with goals from Martin Halewood and Sion Jones.
John Ridings, Nathan Smith and Gari Thomas added to the total in the second period.
BETWS-YN-RHOS 1
Y GLANNAU 2
ST ASAPH-based Y Glannau are sitting pretty near the top of the Clwyd League Division One standings after a successful opening weekend.
They had to come from behind to achieve victory at Betws-yn-Rhos, who had a first-half lead with Aeddon ap Garth’s 35th minute goal.
Y Glannau hauled themselves level five minutes into the second period with Martin Parker’s response and the winning goal wasn’t too long in coming with George Parry grabbing the second goal on 63 minutes.
BRO CERNYW 0
MOSTYN DRAGONS 3
BRO Cernyw failed to douse the fire of the Mostyn Dragons as their Clwyd League Division One campaign ended on a losing note.
The three-goal cushion looks a comfortable one as far as the visitors were concerned, however the points were still in the balance going into the closing half-an-hour.
FLINT TN UTD RESERVES 2
DENBIGH TOWN RESERVES 1
FLINT Town United away for the opening Clwyd League fixture was also going to be a tough one for Russ Pierce’s Denbigh Town Reserves.
Yet the Vale side will consider themselves unfortunate to come away from Cae Castell with an odd-goal-in-three defeat at the hands of last season’s champions.
An excellent first touch and shuffle on 57 minutes gave Matt Toole some room in the box and his clinical finish provided a deserved lead. Flint goal grabber Phill Lloyd levelled and in the 87th minute the hosts sealed the win with Tom Jones’ strike.
LLANNEFYDD 2
PRESTATYN ROVERS 5
A GOAL-laden first 20 minutes saw Llannefydd on the back foot right from the off in their Clwyd League Division One opener versus Prestatyn Rovers.
Martin King struck twice for Prestatyn early on and with a Shane Thomas strike to celebrate, it was quickly 3-0.
Back came Llannefydd with two goals in seven minutes from Floyd Richards and an own goal.
That’s as close as Llannefydd were to get to their opponents, however, as Martin King’s regal display continued in the last 20 minutes with another two goals.
POINT OF AYR 6
CERRIGYDRUDION 1
IT was a case of six of the worst as far as Cerrigydrudion were concerned on Saturday.
Beginning the Clwyd League Division One season at Point of Ayr, a first half spell of three goals in 12 minutes had Cerrig playing catch-up.
Jason Jones pulled a goal back early doors in the second stanza, but three strikes in 10 minutes later in the second half sealed the points for Point.
Darren Hughes scored a hat-trick.
