FLINTSHIRE’s A-level students enjoyed stunning exam success.
There were celebrations across the county yesterday as hundreds of students collected their results, with many achieving the grades they needed to pursue higher education careers.
Results from exams taken with the Welsh Joint Education Committee showed 99.4 per cent of students passed, an increase on last year’s tally and well above the all-Wales figure of 97.1 per cent.
The success in schools was reflected by the achievements of Deeside College, where the pass rate of 97.2 per cent was again above the national average.
This year has seen the introduction of A* grades. There was also success in the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma, sat across the county.
Ian Budd, director of lifelong learning for Flintshire, said: “Students have worked hard to pursue demanding programmes of study. I am delighted for all of them and wish them every success as they build on these results in their future higher education, training and career pathways."
