BETHESDA ATHLETIC 4
CORWEN 1

A SECOND half hat-trick meant that Corwen’s Welsh Trophy adventure ended at the first hurdle with defeat in their testing first round tie at Bethesda.

Kieran Jeffreys opened the scoring for the Gwynedd hosts on 21 minutes with a direct run down the left wing into the box before firing home.

However, Corwen pulled one back before the stroke of half time with a good strike that left the stand-in Athletic keeper with no chance and that made it 1-1 at the interval.

It was mainly Bethesda on top after the break and Lance Williams’ second half hat-trick ensured it was the home side that made it through to the second round.
